The pony that led officials on a chase around the Vancouver Mall area Monday was back home by Tuesday night. Paul Scarpelli, manager for Clark County Animal Protection and Control, said the owners contacted the agency Tuesday. They didn’t hear about it Monday but found plenty of voicemails from friends and family Tuesday, he said. After getting a call about a runaway pony Monday, officers managed to corral it near the Vancouver Village shopping area. Animal control field officer Bill Burrus then arrived and they got a halter on the pony. A foster home took in the pony while animal control looked for its owners.Scarpelli said it’s unlikely anyone will ever really know how the horse got loose, but it appears someone visiting its owners’ house may have forgotten to close a gate.
